ChromaCon continues collaboration for GMP pilot and production scale systems after acquisition of LEWA’s bioprocessing division by YMC

Zurich, Switzerland. August 15, 2018.

LEWA-Nikkiso America Inc. and YMC Co., Ltd. recently announced that LEWA’s bioprocessing division will be acquired by YMC, forming a new entity called YMC Process Technologies located in Devens, MA, USA. A joint press release by LEWA and YMC announcing that transaction and answering potential questions around the transaction have been published and are attached.

Michael Bavand, CEO of ChromaCon, commented: “We want to ensure our customers that a seamless transfer in our business relationship between LEWA and YMC is warranted. We cooperated closely with LEWA and have co-developed and co-marketed the leading continuous chromatography scale-up system based on our twin column technology. YMC has been our valued business partner for some time acting as our distributor in Japan and India. We are looking forward to continue our business relationship with YMC Process Technologies also expanding to significant additional business areas.”

LEWA’s EcoPrime Twin received the Aspen Award for the Advancement of Downstream Processing 2017. Earlier this year, an important milestone was reached by successful scale-up of ChromaCon’s proprietary CaptureSMB process by Bristol-Myers Squibb, published in the journal Bioprocessing International.
